Grief & Loss Counseling
Grief is a natural response to losing someone or something we have loved, dreams we've had, homes we have lived in, roles/identities we have been for a long time (a career, a marriage/partner, a parent), and pets we've become attached to. This experience of loss is one of the deepest and most painful emotions we feel. Hard as it may be, you can find healing through this difficult journey. And you don't have to go through it alone. It helps to share the stories, the tears, the ups and downs with people that will allow you to grieve and go through the process.
Loss touches us in more ways than we ever imagine. It is around us in friends and family too. The death of a partner, a parent, a child, that feels like a part of us has also died. Cancer, chronic illness, aging and pain, that chips away at the vitality of who we are. Loss of a marriage, a home, a life, where we once had our roots. Scars of abuse, traumas of many kinds, and unresolved relationships are covered over by everyday life and kept at a distance. These losses accumulate and build up within us. |
Losses named and un-named, resolved and unresolved, from long ago and just yesterday, eat away at our life force and zap our energy if they are not tended to. They are waiting to be acknowledged and listened to, mourned and grieved, so that we can live and love again.
In grief counseling, I companion individuals and groups through these difficult emotions and the healing process involved in the journey of grief, to help you integrate the loss into your life. I follow the "Companioning Philosophy" and grief model of Dr. Alan Wolfelt at The Center for Loss.
If you are struggling through a loss, and want help to move through the grief process, I would love to work with you. Feel free to schedule a Zoom consultation and we can talk more about what's going on, and set up a time to meet.
